Gwilym Gold – Muscle

London-based experimentalist Gwilym Gold returns this month with ‘Muscle’, a slowly unfurling treasure of a ballad played out over simple piano chords and clicks. The track was composed last year during Gold’s time improvising live piano soundtracks to artist Eddie Peake’s work with five dancers, Infinite Disparity, at the White Cube gallery – and those six weeks of intensive musical boot-camp were clearly worth it if this disquietingly beautiful song is anything to go by. ‘Muscle’ is set to be released on July 14 via HYMN, a new label established by Peake in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory; there’s also going to be a digital download available via Kaya Kaya Records.
